Lebanon 2.0 is the product of a need for social cohesion, a banding together of young dynamic people with different backgrounds, faiths and areas of expertise in a time where society is threatened by health, political, and economic crises that affect all equally, no matter creed or wealth.
The explosion in Lebanon has caused another wave of fear and despair. People lost their homes or even family members and friends. The entire Beirut capital is destroyed and that during a political revolution, economics crisis and global pandemic. Besides that Lebanon has had widespread fires that costs lives and brought destruction to the country. In spite of all of this, crisis management is initiated by the Lebanese people themselves. It is the community and not the government that comes into action, puts down fires and rebuilds homes. In Lebanon the people take care of themselves, not the government. Lebanon 2.0 initiated fundraisings to rebuild and furnish houses and provide meals for people who have nothing.
The Lebanese Lira has devaluated and massive inflation has come to rise. Banks are closed and won’t release any dollars. A lot of Lebanese citizens lost their jobs or are making significantly less due to the economic crisis and devaluation of the Lebanese Lira. The economic crisis is causing a situation which is so unstable people can barely get by and a lot of people can’t even buy food or afford their rent anymore. It is estimated that at least half the Lebanese population lives below the poverty line. We wish to educate the community, provide them with the necessary tools, and spread awareness by means of programs and online seminars. Whether you are interested in taking a course or providing your own expertise, feel free to reach out to us.
Due to the current situation in Lebanon a lot of young people are starting to lose hope in their own country. We are fighting for them and a better future for them. We call ourselves Lebanon 2.0 because we want to create a better version of Lebanon and make it a place where young people see a future. Without them the situation will never change and it is important that we come together to create a country we are proud to call our home. Current politics does not uphold a fair representation of the population, especially the new generation. We wish to educate and inform the new generation about politics and give them the skills our future politicians need.
The Lebanese government has failed us and we are left to mend the damage. There is a lack of trust in political leaders and we wish to redefine who our leaders are, what we expect of them and how we keep them responsible. To establish this we started working on political programs and we will be holding seminars to educate the new generation about politics and to innovate the way we look at it. If you are interested in being a part of this program feel free to reach out with any questions. More information about this program will follow on the website.
